Cody Atkins

Country Music Artist – Songwriter – Guitar Player

Cody Atkins, a native from the Blue Ridge mountains of Newport, Virginia. Grew up on the traditional sounds of Bluegrass and Country music. He first picked up a guitar at the age of ten, being inspired by his uncle Gene Atkins who was an accomplished guitar player.

From then on the passion for playing the guitar and learning countless songs Along with the history of Country Music continued to grow. Being influenced by the greats such as Hank Williams Sr., Merle Haggard, George Jones, Don Williams, and Tony Rice. He soon discovered the love of songwriting.

“I was always more interested in who wrote the song. Wondering just who those people were. The song had to be there first before anything else, that always fascinated me.”

After high school, Cody earned a scholarship to attend East Tennessee State University enrolled in the Bluegrass Oldtime and Country Music Program. There he honed his skills as a guitar player and band leader learning under professors Will Parsons, Ed Snodderly, Dave Yates, Adam Steffey and Tim Stafford.

Upon graduation from ETSU, Cody moved to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in songwriting and Country Music. He has been performing live in town and has played nearly every club in Music City since. Cody continues to perform live weekly while honing his craft as a songwriter, writing on a daily basis with some of Nashville’s best Songsmith’s.
